Gus Jenkins - "Hit The Road"

Here is another track Gus Jenkins recorded for L.A. based Flash Records.
"Hit The Road" was released as the b-side to "Road Runner" in 1958. I will post the other side at some point in the future.

Ernie K. Doe - "I Cried My Last Tear"

Here is the very catchy flip side to "A Certain Girl," which I posted back on 3/22/11.
I get a great New Orleans vibe from this song and finding myself humming it for a while after listening to it.

Eddie Harris - "Alicia"

This hauntingly beautiful song was the flip side to Eddie's jazz version of the theme from the movie Exodus.
Exodus to Jazz is the debut album by American jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris recorded in 1961 and released on the Vee-Jay label.

Eddie Cano - "Panchita"

Back in 2011, I posted the other side of this 45, which was Eddie's version of "A Taste Of Honey." Pancho is a name that is used when you don't know someone's name. Sort of like "Mac", "Buddy", "Bubba", or "Joe" in English. Panchita is the diminutive feminine version of Pancho. Panchita is also slang for a small jar of wine. In any case. It's a great latin jazz number. Panchita. What beauty!
The last three notes remind me of the old jingle, "By Mennen." I guess you'll have to be a little old to remember that.
